Rachel Dawn Ballinger was born on April 5, 1991, in Santa Barbra, California, to Tim and Gwen Ballinger. She has three older siblings: Christopher, Trent, and Colleen.

Ballinger was homeschooled for a majority of her younger years. She attended a private middle school and public high school before attending Azusa Pacific University, where she was on the women flag football team and received a Bachelors degree in Psychology.
Career
Ballinger began posting YouTube videos for family and friends as early as 2008, but began uploading regularly in 2013. In her first series "What Pisses Me Off," she ranted about everyday occurrences that annoy her.
She soon began posting two videos each week, with "Rachel's Room," a Question and Answer type video each Thursday, and "Rachel's Random Tuesday," where she did various challenges and other videos each Tuesday. She briefly had a series called "Learning Sundays," where she would
