Biography
John Thurloe was the Secretary of State for Cromwell's Protectorate government and his chief spymaster. He was born in 1616 and baptized June 12 in the parish of Abbess-Roding [1] in Essex, where his father Thomas Thurloe was rector of St Edmund's.
